In an inevitable but still depressing move, President Bush thinks that "equal time" should be given to Intelligent Design creationism so that "people can understand what the debate is about."
This would be pretty funny because it seems pretty clear from the article that Bush himself could use a science class to understand is about. Unfortunately, it is too dangerous to really find amusing. What Bush supports would fundamentally weaken America's position as a science leader (a position which is already imperiled) and would set the dangerous precedent of allowing special interest groups to dictate what could be taught as fact in a science curriculum.
The President's War on Science is well-documented. Until now, it had been mostly a guerilla conflict. This is an open declaration.
